Hi! I'm Hope!

If you are new here, you may want to consider reading this blog post, “You’re Engaged!! Now What?” first, and then come back to this one. In this post I’m gonna help you have a restful engagement season.

I know you’re excited to start your wedding planning journey, but make sure you savor this season instead of rushing it.

Here are 6 things you can do to really savor it:

Sit down & have a conversation with your fiancée about your wedding day— This is very important. Even if he says he wants to leave it all up to you, it’s still important to have that line of communication open. There still might be some things that he would love to have, even if he’s the hands off type of person.

Don’t stay on social media 24/7— This can create a lot of problems. Constantly gaining new ideas can throw you into a comparison game. When it comes to the vision you have for your wedding there should be no comparison. It’s fine to hop on from time to time to gain visual inspiration but don’t let social media/Pinterest boards be the end all be all.

Have meaningful date nights— Make sure that you are taking time for each other. Have some meaningful date nights where you don’t even focus on wedding planning, but on each other.

Take frequent breaks in planning— This sounds counter productive, but can help clear your mind so you can really focus when you have the time to devote to planning. If you think about something for too long, you can lose sight of what you’re even doing. Taking breaks is like pushing the reset button, & makes your focus on that task stronger when you come back to it.

Outsource party details— Having a wedding planner & coordinator is invaluable for your big day! A wedding planner can help connect you with amazing dream vendors for your big day, & keep you within the budget you set. This is especially helpful if you are really busy with work, and eliminates a lot of stress. A day of coordinator makes sure your day flows smoothly, & is responsible for your timeline. All you do is show up at the appointed times & they will take care of the rest for you. 🙂

Marriage Counseling— Of course this is optional of course, but I have heard wonderful things from couples who have gotten pre-marital counseling. If you are getting married at a church then chances are they probably already have a program in place for counseling. If not this may be a good starting place for you: Happily Ever After, or you can do a Google Search to find someone near you.
