Hi! I'm Hope!

Hi there! Wedding planning is overwhelming isn’t it?

Let me make a little easier on you, by providing you with what to look for in a wedding photographer, from a wedding photographer.

As you may see on the sidebar there, I’m Hope Ann of Hope Ann Photos. But you can just call me, Hope. 🙂

Let’s just dive on in.

What To Look For in A Wedding Photographer From A Wedding Photographer

Image Style

It’s important to know what kind of style resonates with you. Do you like bright & airy, dark & moody, boho (where all the images have a hint of brown or an orange tint), light, bright, & vibrant, the natural film aesthetic, or actual film.

Not knowing what style you’re drawn to can leave you with feelings of disappointment, because you didn’t get the images you envisioned in your mind.

So make sure to look at galleries on each photographers website carefully.

For me, I have the natural film aesthetic.

Personality Type

Believe it or not, this can make or break your experience.

This is why you need to see if they offer a consultation of some type.

It’s hard to really imagine a person’s personality just by the words that are on their website.

Also, not providing some type of consultation, for me anyway, is sort of a red flag.

With so many scammers lurking among us these days, you want to make sure you’re dealing with someone who isn’t just going to take your money & not show up.

Timelines, Lists, Oh My

Does your photographer offer any assistance with timelines, or do they make a photography timeline to coincide with your day of coordinators??

I have found that this is invaluable for my couples. Not only do they know where I’m going to be throughout the wedding day, but they know I’m going to capture all the shots they are envisioning.

This creates an even deeper trust between us.

Communication

I don’t know about you, but this one right here is priority number 1 for me.

Do have great communication skills?

You can tell this immediately, by if they answer your inquiry back in a timely manner.

For instance, if they say they’ll get back with you in 48 hrs. & respond in less than 24 hrs. That’s amazing! That’s what you want to see.

Setting up expectations from the start with great communication is key for a smoother experience.

The Process

Are they open & upfront about their process from start to finish?

For me I have this located on my website, in my investment guide, & in the wedding prep guide I send to couples.

I have this set in many different places so that they are never left wondering what to expect their experience with me.

I really hope this blog post managed to help you in some way.
