Hi! I'm Hope!

Hello lovelies! I have been loving experimenting with make-up here lately, and I wanted to give you a few tips, and examples for make-up for your photo shoot. Getting flawless looking make-up, starts with taking great care of your skin. I did a skincare blog post here, feel free to check that out first.

After washing my face in the morning, I will use my moisturizer then apply this primer. I use a color correcting primer, since I have a lot of redness in my skin, and it can be quite patchy. When I apply this, it feels like silk going on, very smooth, and soothing.

Then I use my ‘Miracle Blur’ to blur the dark circles under my eyes. This goes on cool, so it de-puffs my eyes quite a bit. (Quick tip: Anything cool will de-puff your eyes.)  Make Up Blog Post

When I need a little extra coverage before I apply my foundation, I use this concealer palette. The yellow helps to combat dark circles under my eyes, the purple will neutralize the skin tone, and green helps to hide any blemishes I may have. I use the highlighter at the very end of my routine to highlight under my eyebrows, and on my cheeks.  It makes me look more awake, refreshed, and leaves you with a dewy glow.

Now, it’s time to apply foundation! As of right now, I use the FIT ME by Maybeline. To be honest with you, this type of foundation doesn’t look quite right unless you apply a primer, or you don’t have a problem with dry skin. As far as matching skin tones, it’s dead on. Application, sometimes, not so much.

Then I use my Revlon ColorStay concealer. To conceal my dark circles even more. My dark circles are inherited so they don’t go away. When I’m really tired they show through my make-up pretty good, so I try to double conceal at times. I just love it when my eyes look fresh, and awake.

I will then apply a translucent powder, which means it won’t change the color of my foundation. I use the Revlon brand, and it’s been working really well. I use my blush brush, and tap it onto my face. When you rub, you risk taking off some of that foundation. Tapping the powder on, set’s the foundation so it doesn’t move.

I use two different types of blushes. The first one is this Dream Bouncy Blush by Maybeline. It’s very smooth, and blends in quite well. The other blush you will see later, it’s a powder blush. It has a more natural look, and feel to it.

I do use two different mascara’s too. The first one is the Waterproof/Butterfly Intenza, and the second is the Pumped Up Colossal Volume Express by Maybeline. When they say waterproof, they mean it, when it comes to the Butterfly Intenza. It takes me forever to remove this mascara at night with my cleansers, and eye make up remover. I love to wear this one when I know I’m going to be moving quite a bit. It doesn’t drip, and it doesn’t clump as much as other mascaras.

The Pumped Up mascara tends to clump quite a bit more, but does allow more time to add layers. It doesn’t automatically dry when it goes on, and is super easy to remove.

As for eyeliner, right now I am just using the L’Oreal Infallible Lacquer Liner, and I apply it with an angled brush. This gets the liner close to my lashes so it looks like a contour.

Some days, when I have more time, I will apply eye shadow. I love playing around with all the different shades.

This may seem like a lot of steps, but it actually can take me only 5-10 minutes to apply everything. My goal with make up is to just enhance my facial features, I never want to use my make-up to hide. Remember that. Enhance your natural beauty, don’t hide yourself behind it.
