Hi! I'm Hope!

Last year the to-do lists became bigger, and bigger by the day. I found myself being like a hermit crab, and staying in my leggings, over-sized sweaters, and fuzzy socks, working until late in the night. After I did this for a while, I found myself getting burnt out, and not taking care of myself at all. Does any of this sound familiar to my fellow, creative entrepreneurs out there? So at the beginning of this year I promised that I would take better care of myself. I started with getting a schedule together in my business, and adding in times to stop working. For me this is really hard, because my brain has a tendency to keep going, and going, and going, and it’s hard to shut off the work brain.

So I’ve tried doing these 5 things to relax more. The more relaxed I am, the more creative I am, and the more I get done. I hope these will help you be more productive, and more relaxed too.

1. Melodies

— This is a free app you can download, and it plays so many different relaxing melodies. My favorite sounds are Ocean, Thunder, and Rain. You can even select multiple sounds to play at one time. My favorite sounds together are Ocean and Thunder. This is great if you are like me, and you have trouble falling asleep. This app puts me right out.

2. Music

— Music has always been therapeutic for me. So naturally when I need to relax, I put on something soft to listen to. At this moment, “The Garden” album by Kari Jobe is what I go to. It puts my mind at ease, and gives me peace.

3. Journaling

–This is another therapeutic technique that helps me relax. There are times I don’t really notice how much I carry around with me until I sit down, and write. One night I had so much on my mind that I ended up writing 4 pages(front and back). Once I finished writing it was like a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. You can find cute journals just about anywhere like Wal-Mart, or Staples. If you are looking for something unique I would definitely turn to Etsy, or my personal favorite the Cultivate What Matters online shop.

4. Spa Nights

— You don’t have to go out, and spend money to have an expensive spa day at some resort. Although it is very nice to have that little escape, you can treat yourself at home too. I like to take a nice warm bath, put on my music, or watch a little YouTube. While taking a bath, throw in a bath bomb, or fizzer. These are infused with natural oils so they are very good, and nourishing for your skin, plus they smell so amazing! After that I finish with a nice face mask, right now my favorite is the Biore Self Heating One Minute Charcoal Mask. It really does self heat too, and it feels so good going on, and once its done.

5. Go Out!

— I find that when I have a good night out with friends I come back feeling refreshed, and ready to work again. I use to spend days just pouring over ideas, working behind my computer screen, and all it did was make me lonely, and burnt out. So turn off that computer, put down the phone, and go have some fun. If you don’t you might regret missing that time with friends, or family.

I hope that this list has helped you in some way. Comment down below, what is your favorite way to relax?

Love,
