If you have stumbled upon this blog post, chances are you have just been proposed to. (Congratulations by the way!!) And you’re probably wondering why you should have an engagement session at all.
It improves to the client/photographer relationship: This is a chance for clients to really get to know their photographer better, how they work, & pose. By the time the actual wedding day arrives clients are more at ease having worked with their photographer beforehand, & know what to expect.
Updated Social Photos: These days everyone wants new, cute photos of them & their loved ones to show off. What better way than an engagement session, and show off that new bling on your ring finger. 😉
Save the Dates: A lot of my clients still send out save the dates using their engagement photos. It gets other people familiar with my work as well, & makes me top of mind.
To Simply Remember The Season & Their Own Love Stories: Ever since COVID hit back in 2020, more & more people are realizing they need to savor each season as it is, & not try to rush into the next stage. To really cherish each other & have their memories preserved.
What Do I Do with The Rest of the Images?:
Have them made into an album. Mpix is my go to recommendation. They have lab quality results without the lab pricing.
Print them. I feel like this is a lost art these days. Yes everything can be left online, or in the cloud, or on your phone, but there’s nothing more nostalgic than having your photos printed & put into your own photo albums. Again I highly recommend Mpix.
Gallery Wall. You can set up a beautiful gallery wall & then when the time comes & your wedding photos are ready you can replace your engagement images with those. Or you can mix & match engagement images with your wedding images.
Holiday Cards. Now depending on when you have your engagement session, you can use these send out to friends & family as your greeting card.
I hope this post has inspired you & maybe changed your minds about engagement sessions.
