Hi! I'm Hope!

Having a second photographer is a non-negotiable in my book. I have a second photographer worked into my wedding day collection.

Why?

Because I couldn’t capture all the moving parts of a wedding day without one. I’ve had a second shooter(Olivia with Olivia Shay Photography) that’s been with me for a few years now, and we’ve developed systems that make capturing images a breeze on the wedding day. When she isn’t available, I do have other photographer friends I can reach out to, to help assist me on wedding days.

Benefits of A Second Shooter

Having a second photographer let’s my brides know that every part of their day will be taken care of. While I’m mainly working closely with the bride, my second photographer is off working with the groom & groomsmen. As the old saying goes, “We kill two birds with one stone.” In return, this helps the wedding day run much more efficiently. (The shots of the groom & groomsmen were taken at the same time the below photo was being taken. Photo Credit: Alishia from Him & Her Photo)

My second photographer helps me with images for my brand. They capture images & videos of me at work to showcase in reels, & in blog posts just like this. That way future clients get a sense of what it’s like to work with me in real time.

During the ceremony I’m mostly focused on what’s happening at the altar and staying in one place, so they capture the moments that I don’t see. If grandma is tearing up, or mom is giving the bride a loving look, they capture that, etc. (The top photo is from my persepective, and the bottom is from my second photographer’s persepective.)

They are a huge help on aiding me during the first looks, or husband & wife sunset photos. If the bride has a long veil, and we want to do the throwing the veil shot, or making sure that I don’t back up and fall over (this has happened on multiple occasions), etc. (This was a double booked venue & the only spot we had to capture a bridesmaids first look was on the balcony. So Olivia captured the shot of the bride on the right, while I captured the excitement of her bridesmaids on the left.)

There are so many benefits to having a second photographer, that I don’t think I could ever go back to photographing weddings without one. Even at a small-wedding, I would still have one for a few hours.

Their perspectives just add to the wedding day gallery & to your wedding day album.
