Saturday turned out to be one of the best days I have had in a while. I had an idea for a styled shoot at Reynolda Gardens, and Village ever since I shot Madison Whites’ senior prom images there. It is a gorgeous venue filled with beautiful seasonal flowers, trails to exercise on, shopping centers, various restaurants on the property, and of course, the famous Reynolda House hidden right behind the front entrance. I could spend all day there, and just in the garden section, because it’s so peaceful.
For this shoot I enlisted the help of graphic artist Ashley Newton, and asked her to create typography that we could use. Julia Haynes, and Karlie White were our beautiful models for the day, and these girls have great style. The more we discussed the shoot the more excited we all became, and on the day of the shoot everything just seemed to flow so smoothly.
I wanted the theme of the shoot, to resound the mission and vision of my business. I want young girls to know how much they are loved, that they are more than enough, and they are worth more to gold to God. Being a teenager is hard enough with all the “changes” you have to endure from age 12-18, and there is all sorts of pressure from society too. That’s why I want to work so hard at making this blog a source of inspiration, light, and hope, no matter if I do something different one day. You’ll always have these posts to look back on.
I hope these images fill you with as much joy as they did me.
Story time: Once we got settled into the shoot, and things progressed we had a word for the day, “Smize” It means to smile with your eyes, but every few images I would find myself saying, “Okay, now smize.” By the middle of the shoot the girls were like, “We know, we know, smize.” We couldn’t help, but laugh every single time.
The sunlight peeks through these trees so beautifully, and just makes Karlie’s eyes pop.
I did some head-shots for our beautiful graphic artist Ashley too. She’s so beautiful, and photogenic!
Even though we couldn’t shoot inside any of the greenhouses, the outside of them was just as beautiful. We would’ve went to more doors, but it was high noon. This was the only door that was even remotely shaded, and not directly facing the sun.
We would have used the rose garden section for this image, but we were limited on time, and where we could shoot. They were doing renovations to the rose garden area, but that’s okay. Reynolda Gardens is pretty big, and I’m sure I will be back for more sessions there. I just love it!
I loved Julia’s clutch that she brought. It has the words, “Guam” stitched on the sides, and was hand-made.
Julia is so beautiful, and such a free spirit. I love it, and her style!
These images are brought to you by my awkward singing of, “My House” by Flo Rida. || Your welcome.
Julia was so ready to get into the water by the time we reached the waterfall. It started getting quite hot as the day progressed.
And this image is brought to you by the word, “Smize” || Again. || Your welcome.
This little spot was quite tricky for me to climb into. I didn’t see a hole that was covered by grass, and branches, and let’s just say I almost face planted. Again. If you read my last senior blog post, then you would know this is starting to become somewhat of a trend with me. I’m just so glad Karlie was beside me to catch me.
I had to post this little blooper shot. We were starting to do the photo below when, a Praying Mantis wanted to be in our shoot, but Karlie was not feeling it.

We stopped to climb down this embankment to capture a few images, and met the sweetest little pups on the way back up. One little miniature border collie almost fell down the hill on us, luckily his owners caught him, and brought him back up to safety. We met a couple of more little ones, and chatted with their owners for a bit. We came to find out that their brown dog was named, Booger. They had another small, only a few weeks old, black lab pup, but his name escapes me at the moment. We started to leave, but the little black pup wanted to come with us. It was so precious. His owner had to pick him up, so they could continue their walk.
These were 2 of the sweet little pups that we met.
I have limited dates left for October, and I would love to do more fall shoots. Just contact me here, and we can talk about it.
