Hi! I'm Hope!

Hello friends, the fall season is finally upon us which means Pumpkin Spice everything(I’m honestly not fan. Please don’t descend on me all at one time for that.), the leaves changing colors, cool, crisp mornings, and evenings. I love almost everything about fall, including that it is wedding, and engagement season! *Cue happy face, and gold glitter everywhere!*

I know that this is a special season of life for you, and your fiancee, but it can also be a stressful time too. You are in the early stages of planning your wedding, and just have no idea where to start at. Well, let me help you out in the photography department for just a moment.

Why Should I Do An Engagement Session?:

I, personally, love photographing the engagement sessions, because it allows me to get to know you better. I get to know your style, what you love, and don’t love, and the groom-to-be actually gets comfortable with me(which is a huge bonus!). After the engagement gallery is delivered, we still then continue planning for the wedding, so by the time the actual wedding day comes, it’s just like going to see an old friend, and I love it!

Another reason I personally love engagement sessions is because, we can take our time during the shoot. On the actual wedding day things go so quickly, you barely get time to interact with the vendors you hired.

What Do I Wear To My Engagement Session?:

This one, I believe all depends on who you choose as your photographer. If you choose a photographer who photographs couples who are all dressed to the nines, and you love that, you know that’s your signature style too, then by all means book them, and have the engagement session of your dreams!

For me, I love sending out style guides, or creating a Pinterest Board of Inspiration based on what the bride tells me she loves, and we go from there. This works out well for my high school seniors, and I know it works out well for my brides as well.

Why Should I Hire Someone To Photograph My Engagement Session, When I Can Get My Friend To Do It For Me?: (Read More…….)

I don’t shy away from questions like this, I actually love answering these. So are you ready to hear this? I promise you, it’s not going to sound like what you are thinking.

If your friend is trying to make their way into the photography industry, has put in the work of practicing, and perfecting their craft, and wants to build their portfolio, then ask them to do it. I started out this way, and their is no shame in that at all.

However, if your friend is not serious about photography at all, then by all means hire a professional! This is season of life is one of the most important seasons you will ever have, next to having a child, so you want someone who can document it the way you’ve dreamed it to be. You are hiring a professional based on their hours upon hours of perfecting their craft, for their expertise, their personal client experience, the style of work they produce, their personality, etc.

I am, personally, a very personality driven person, so if I hire someone it’s because I’ve fell in love with their work, and I just adore them as a person. This is one of the main reasons I went with Hope Taylor Photography for my head-shots. I drove 3 hours away to Richmond, VA to have professional head-shots taken by her, and when we met up, it’s was literally just like catching up with an old friend.

That’s what you want your experience to be like.

I really hope this helped you out, if you are thinking about investing in photography for your big day. I will be doing a part 2 to this very soon all about the wedding day itself.  For now, I am interested to hear from you, and what you think, so be sure to comment below so we can chat! Love always,
