One of the best parts of being a wedding photographer, is getting to meet new people, and having the privilege to work with them later. I met Emily at Brianna & Bradley’s wedding last year, & the thing that stood out to me about Emily is, her joy & kindness.
If her new sister-in-law was overwhelmed, Emily was right there beside her. Giving her some sisterly advice, & reminding her of the bigger picture. It is rare to have a friend, and sister-in-law like that. But what a blessing! I feel blessed having witnessed that kind of friendship unfold that day.
So when Emily reached out to me about her own session, I was thrilled!! Her & her husband Evan are expecting their first little baby boy!!! *Cue all the confetti poppers, & pop some champagne!!!!*
As we walked & talked, they told me that they have both chosen to keep the baby name under wraps, until the day of his arrival. (Which I think adds to the excitement & joy when he arrives.)
The sun was beaming down on us when we started our session, so we made sure to trek around the base of the knob until the sun started to set. I had asked Emily before hand if that was okay, or if it would be too much, but she was down for an adventure!
The weather was so humid & sticky, it felt as if you could just slice the humidity with a knife. But being in the shade of Pilot Knob helped tremendously! I couldn’t help but admire Emily as she climbed up rock steps, & make it down a steep embankment with little to no help. (Emily, girl, you are a determined trooper!! )
We continued to make our way around the base of the knob just chatting away about life, careers, dreams, and more. This is probably my favorite part of any of my sessions. Just getting to know people a little bit more, & building a relationship.
Emily & Evan, you both are going to make wonderful parents. I got to witness the way you both looked at each other, & spoke to each other. I watched as how, Evan, you made sure to take care of Emily & look after her well-being all during the session. And the thing that stood out the most to me was the joy you both have. Your little baby boy is going to be one blessed little man. I for one, am super excited to see your little family grow.
