Oh friends. I love traveling, but let me tell you about my extreme dislike for traffic, and the I-95 in Richmond, Virginia. Traffic is buzzing around me, on a 6 lane highway, at about 80-85 miles per hour(For a small town girl……that feels like 100 to me). Then out of the blue, red lights everywhere. Sudden. Stop. Traffic. My heart nearly jumped out of my chest, as I pumped my breaks. Hoping I wasn’t going to hit the car in front of me.
I finally make it my destination. CrossRoads Coffee & Ice Cream. I had to sit for a hot minute. Turn my air up. And just relax.
I was meeting up with my long time Instagram, photographer friend, Adonika Williams. She texted me as soon as she arrived, & instantly it’s like catching up with an old friend. Ahhh, I love that feeling when you just click with a new friend like that. We ate lunch, and sat down to chat a while. We talked about business, day jobs, life & everything in between.
We later met up with another photographer, Cara Slabach, and roamed around Belle Isle. (You may actually remember when I went to Richmond a couple years ago for these head shots, I was actually within walking distance from Belle Isle & had no idea!) As the sun started to set we made our way from Belle Isle, over to the American Civil War Museum to capture a few more images before it was time to leave.
It was so nice to be around 2 women who not only share a common love of photography, but who exemplify the community over competition spirit. It was such a refreshing weekend, but now I’m ready for more adventures.
I’ll let you in on a secret, I may be planning a pretty big adventure for the end of December. 🙂 But for now, I hope you enjoy these images of my time in Richmond.
I had to capture a couple of quick images at my hotel, Embassy Suites in Downtown Richmond, VA. I mean, my room was so fitting to me, a photographer. I just had to.
Love,
Hope*
