Today’s business must have, isn’t technology related. It isn’t a certain website provider, it’s nothing material. Today I want to talk heart. It’s something that I believe is a must have in every business. If you have been gifted with that eye to capture life’s most precious moments, to capture true raw emotion, then you have the power to make change. Every business owner needs that vision, that passion, fire, and heart to see change in the world.

To have your business focused on self, or simply just getting a bigger office space can leave you with an empty feeling. This is a feeling I am all too familiar with, and it makes me feel a little ashamed if we are being totally honest.

One of my favorite photographers, Jamie Delaine is a prime example of what having heart, and vision looks like. Her, and her husband Randy created, “The School Sessions”. The goal is to raise a certain amount of money so the kids in Haiti can have a proper school. January 12th marked the 5th anniversary of the devastating earthquake in Haiti. Much of that country is still in ruin today, and the kids only have a straw hut to have school in. So, on April 12th, 2015 if you are a photographer, you have the chance to sign up, and donate your sessions to the school. Or if you just love the vision behind it, you can simply donate.

Isn’t that wonderful? Having a chance to use your gifts, and talents to do something wonderful with them? I want you to do this for me.

Ask yourself these questions:

“Why are you in business?” 

“What do you want to do with your gifts, and talents?”

“How are you going to use these gifts to help someone in need?”

All you have to do is START, today. Don’t wait to make progress, or change. Start by simply writing it all down.

What is truly on your heart? 

It’s okay if you don’t know how it’s all going to play out. It’s okay if you are a little bit scared. I want to leave you with this encouragement:
