If you are a seasoned business owner, or just starting out it’s important to really think about your office space. Should you get an actual office space in a downtown area, or should you just work at home to save on costs?
This is something I’ve been considering myself, for quite sometime, so let’s think about it together.
I’ve compiled 2 lists of questions to ask yourself when making this important decision.
1. Do you constantly suffer interruptions, or unexpected visits?
2. When you are at home do you start getting anxious, because the house chores aren’t getting done?
3. If you are still single, and living at home do you find it distracting to have your office in your bedroom?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you may want to consider saving up your money, and investing in office space. If you answered no, then working at home may be good for you!
1. Do you already have a vision for it? If you can’t dream it, then how do you know what you are looking for?
2. Are you prepared to put in the hard work of maintaining an office space? (i.e. monthly rental, maintenance, insurance, etc.)
3. Does your business model even require office spacing/studio spacing? (Do you always shoot on location, or would you ever consider learning studio lighting?)
There are some tough questions you have to ask yourself when deciding this important aspect of your business.
That’s okay. Just take it one step at a time. Breathe. You don’t have to ” keep up with the Jones’ “. Work hard, and work at your own pace.
This is my current office space at this moment:
It’s nothing special, and stays quite a mess(this is the cleaned up, for a photograph version).
As of right now, I get interrupted more times than I care to be, I get side-tracked(Thanks YouTube!), etc. But when you have a dream you will work as hard as you need to, to make it a reality, and I have a huge dream for my own office space. It will be equipped with all the fabulous girly things you could possibly imagine, and inspirational sayings all over the place, and huge windows to let beautiful morning light in. (I promise, the vision is way more fabulous than my description.)
I hope this post helps you in your decision making process, and if you have any lingering questions feel free to contact me.
Stay beautiful my friends.
Love,
Hope
