10 Reasons I Love Having A Photography Business
There are so many reasons as to why I love having, specifically, a photography business. But for time’s sake I’m only going to list my 10 reasons. (I probably could write a small book on the subject.)
1. Memories – This is my number one because years from now when you are 80 you won’t remember who did or didn’t like your social media posts, but you will remember the most important milestones in your life.
2. Relationships – I love forming friendships with my brides & groom’s. We get to know each other during the engagement session, and the months leading up to their big day. Why? Because on their wedding day I want to show up as a friendor instead of a vendor. It makes for a more comfortable experience. 🙂
3. Creative – I am a creative at heart. I just love creating, and this industry will often stretch you & challenge you in many ways. Often times I have to get creative on location choices at weddings, & shoot in odd circumstances. But I love it so much!!
4. Community – The photography community if often so helpful, and I have been very blessed to have made some wonderful industry friends. If it weren’t for those friendships I don’t know if I would’ve made it through some tough times.
5. Milestones – I feel so honored that I am trusted to capture other’s most precious milestones such as their engagements, weddings, & maternity’s.
7. Travel – Sometimes you get inquiries to travel to different places for sessions. To me that’s exciting! I love traveling & exploring new places!
8. Opportunities – I’ve been finding here lately that having this wedding & portrait business can often lead to other opportunities. For example: I’ve noticed a problem that brides have been having within the industry, and I’m creating a product to help solve that problem. 🙂 (More details on that in another full blog post)
9. Freedom – With my photography business I have been able to create freedom in my own schedule (See my 8-5 to Full Time blog post). And to me that’s successful, because time is the one commodity we can never get back.
10. My Own Boss – I love being my own boss. I have never liked being told when to work, how to work, how much work I can do in a day, etc. I respect authority figures 100%, I’m just someone who likes to work at her own pace, in her own way, & do things in her own time.
